so schön sie dem ersten augenschein nach äußerlich waren: diese drei häuser waren leider definitv rott im eigentlichen sinne des wortes. schimmelig, verwohnt, marode, total hinüber. ich fahre und gehe seit mehr als 25 jahren daran vorbei. soweit ich es beurteilen darf, begann der verfall leider schon, als sie noch bewohnt wurden. ob aus kalkül keine instandhaltung stattfand, mag man gerne mutmaßen. klar, es ist schade, dass so manch schöne fassade dem zahn der zeit zum opfer fällt. es bleibt zu hoffen, dass in 150 jahren vielleicht jemand den neuen eckbau als „retrostyle aus der jahrtausendwende“ erhaltenswert findet. :-)
The facades of these houses were perfectly intact and should certainly have been restored, as Viersen Council repeatedly assured me would happen, as per the original Caritas plans and projections.
Das "manch schöne fassade dem Zahn der Zeit zum Opfer fällt" fällt hier alos nicht zu - these beautiful (and unfortunately very rare thanks to WWII) facades fell victim to the ruthless "teeth" of the arrogant Caritas company and their helpful sidekicks in Viersen Council.
It is a great pity and loss to Viersen that such people's cynicism can destroy the old fabric of the town. They should be ashamed of themselves.
